16 Night Cruise sailing from Buenos Aires to San Antonio aboard Azamara Pursuit.

Like her two sister ships, the sturdy Azamara Pursuit is a mid-sized beauty with a deck plan well-suited to the needs of modern voyagers.

You’ll never feel crowded in the comfortable social spaces of our bars, restaurants, lounges, and Cabaret. Nor will you feel like a sardine jammed in around the pool, where our attentive staff is always ready to offer a complimentary bottled water, soft drink or fresh towel. Staterooms feature modern amenities, furnishings, and European linens. And one of the greatest features of this ship is the large number of staterooms with verandas.

There’s nothing better than opening your door to the fresh sea air and views. Azamara’s friendly ships are an altogether wonderful place to call your home away from home!

Trace South America’s eastern coast toward Antarctica, and explore incredibly diverse destinations in between. This 16-day discovery includes longer (and later) stays, plus a visit to the "end of the world" near the Avenue of the Glaciers.

Before embarking, spend a day in sunny Buenos Aires— the perfect starting port for a cruise down the coast. Explore incredible 19th-century landmarks, historical monuments, and beautiful parks in Montevideo, where we stay late—so consider exploring the Valdés Peninsula National Park or the Punta Tombo Penguin Colony. Next, voyage to the other side of Patagonia, Port Madryn, for whale watching and a little taste of Wales across the pond.

Highlights of this cruise:

Buenos Aires, Argentina
Welcome to elegant, cosmopolitan Buenos Aires, with its European colonial architecture and colorful mix of cultures.

Each district has its own style: enjoy Palermo with its mansions and parks; shop in the chic boutiques of Soho and Hollywood; and soak up the Italian flavor of La Boca where tango dancers and artists display their talents for passersby.

Then top it all off with an Argentine steak, perfectly grilled over a fire of glowing coals, and washed down with an excellent glass of Malbec.

Montevideo, Uruguay
Montevideo exudes European charm and elegance, with broad boulevards, fountains, stately squares, and irresistible sidewalk cafes.

The city maintains a low-key atmosphere despite its position as Uruguay’s commercial and political hub, and there are few skyscrapers on the horizon, though there are some surprising contrasts – an Art Nouveau pedestrian mall, Art Deco Centenary Stadium, and an American Embassy designed by I.M. Pei. Most of the nation’s countryside is farm or ranchland, and the life of the cowboy, or gaucho, is part of the local lore.

Take a peak at the Gaucho Museum, or visit an estancia, and see them in action.

Puerto Madryn, Argentina
Tucked into a protected bay in northern Patagonia, Port Madryn was founded by some unlikely settlers. In 1865, 150 Welsh immigrants fleeing the economic hardship of Britain’s Industrial Revolution founded the city when they arrived to build the Central Chubut Railway. Head to the nearby town of Gaiman for a little taste of Wales way across the pond. Here you’ll find charming Welsh-style homes and quaint teahouses.

You’ll also find plenty of whales of the aquatic variety in Port Madryn, too. Southern right whales can be seen all around the Valdes Peninsula across the bay, but if you’re lucky you might also catch a glimpse of these majestic behemoths from the seaside promenade of Almirante Brown Boulevard. The area around Port Madryn is famous for its diverse wildlife. Punta Tombo National Reserve is home to a huge colony of Magellanic penguins, and Punta Loma Reserve is the best place to see sunbathing South American sea lions.

Ushuaia, Argentina
Surrounded on three sides by towering peaks, this former penal colony on the banks of the Beagle Channel is spectacularly sited amidst waterfalls, glaciers, and beech forests. Alive with marine life offshore, Ushuaia has fully embraced its reputation as a hub of outdoor adventure at the tip of Argentina.

This is the southern extreme of Tierra del Fuego, a national park with hiking trails and walking paths through thick forests, inhabited by native birds and beavers, where seals, sea lions, and sea birds can be found in abundance. The channel is named for HMS Beagle, which sailed these waters with a young Charles Darwin aboard. It was during that voyage that he began to formulate his theories of evolution.

Punta Arenas, Chile
Perched on the western side of the Strait of Magellan, Punta Arenas has long been a European trading point and is now the most commercially crucial city in Patagonian Chile. A relaxed, diverse city rich with vibrant pioneering history, this welcoming port is equally popular as a gateway for adventures to Antarctica.

Begin with a stroll through the main Plaza de Armas among its massive conifers, where you’ll see a monument commemorating the 400th anniversary of Magellan’s voyage, the cathedral, the residence of the governor, and the traditional Cabo de Hornos Hotel. The square is surrounded by several other landmarks and beautiful stately mansions, the most famous and opulent of which is the Palacio Sara Braun, the must-see former home of the female gold and sheep tycoon from the late 1800s.

Chilean Fjords, Chile
From Puerto Chacabuco, in the Aysén District in Northeast Chilean Patagonia, to Punta Arenas, in the Strait of Magellan, prepare to feel small as scene after scene of stunning natural beauty unfolds before your eyes

Steep, rugged shores abound as you cruise through the Chilean Fjords’ vast network of free, open channels that wind their way to the end of the Earth. Watch in awe as glaciers reach down from the Darwin and Andes Mountains to break gracefully into the sea.

Aboard Azamara Pursuit, follow Chile’s southwest coast between Punta Arenas, in the Strait of Magellan, and Puerto Chacabuco, a small town that’s more of a gateway to some of the most beautiful natural scenery and larger towns in Northern Chilean Patagonia. Explore Glacier Alley, the Beagle Channel, the Chilean Fjords, Patagonic Channels, the Canal Moraleda, and other scenic areas first explored by brave pioneers in the 1600s.

Laguna San Raphael, Chile
Experience the magic of cruising into a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in the Northern Patagonian Ice Fields. Welcome to Laguna San Raphael: a national park on the Pacific coast of southern Chile home to 19 awe-inducing glaciers and a temperate climate. Created in 1959, the park has been delighting visitors with its otherworldly landscape for decades.

The region's diverse ecosystem allows for a large variety of fauna in and around the park, including the elusive puma. Animal lovers can take advantage of wildlife watching tours available year-round. If you’re looking to get up close and personal with the native marine wildlife, don’t miss the opportunity to do some fly-fishing and angling. The waters around here are known to be rich in salmon and trout.

Puerto Chacabuco, Chile
South of Puerto Montt, surrounded by majestic fjords, Puerto Chacabuco looks more like Norway than Northwest Patagonia. The town’s history as an important fishing village still holds true today. And with a population of just 1,200, Azamara Club Cruises® guests can expect a truly immersive experience on shore.

Plunging waterfalls. Fathomless gorges. Dramatic coastlines. Puerto Chacabuco is your gateway to some of Chile’s most stunning natural wonders. Don’t miss the Río Simpson National Preserve: a protected park that boasts all three; plus, some of the best fly fishing in the world. A visit to Aiken del Sur Private Park promises the same, with an enchanting opportunity to get back to nature at serene Lake Riesco.

Puerto Montt, Chile
Puerto Montt is an urban oasis surrounded by the breathtaking volcanoes, glacial lakes, and parks for which the Chilean Lake District is known. As the region’s commercial hub, Puerto Montt offers the perfect blend of shopping, sightseeing, and history that elevates any South American cruise itinerary.

Start with a trip to the Angelmo Harbor Market to enjoy the ocean breeze and peruse stalls selling everything from freshly caught fish to rainbow-hued alpaca wool goods sure to keep you warm during those chilly days at sea. For a taste of local flavor, try cancato—a famous Chilean favorite dish made of fish, chorizo, tomato, and cheese. After your meal, take a boat across the Tenglo Channel to Tenglo Island, where you’ll be treated to fantastic views of Osorno—a snow-capped volcano known as one of the most active in all of the southern Chilean Andes.

San Antonio, Chile
One of the busiest ports on the western coast of South America, San Antonio sits in the southern part of Chile’s Valparaiso region. It’s famous for its fresh seafood, pleasant climate, beaches, and for being part of one the best up-and-coming wine regions. The area is also known as the ‘Coast of Poets,’ as four world-renowned Chilean poets resided here for its both its beauty and inspirational connection to the sea.

Stroll the beautiful Paseo Bellamar path lining the bustling harbor—keep a keen eye for sea lions and pelicans being fed near the fish market. Here you can buy seafood fresh off the boat, savor a seafood empanada at one of the many local restaurants, or embark on an excursion around the port and harbor.
