12 Night Cruise sailing from Papeete roundtrip aboard Aranui 5.

Highlights of this cruise:

Papeete
Tahiti is the largest of the Polynesian islands with its population most concentrated in Papeete which is a major shipping crossroad located on Tahiti's northwest corner.

Shopping-lovers will enjoy Papeete's chic shops, busy municipal market, waterfront area and lively mix of French, Polynesian, and Chinese cultures. Its suburbs sprawl up the mountains overlooking the city for miles along the coast in both directions.

The interior of the island offers splendid and unforgettable opportunities for hiking or safari 4x4 excursions, with impressive waterfalls, archeological sites, grottos and more.

Mangareva
Mangareva is the central and main island of the Gambier Islands in French Polynesia. It is surrounded by other smaller islands: Taravai in the southwest and Aukena and Akamaru in the southeast and other smaller islands, lying also in the north. The largest village on the island, Rikitea, is the chief town of the Gambier Islands. The highest point in the Gambiers is Mt. Duff, on Mangareva, rising to 441 m along the island's south coast.

The main village, Rikitea, has the imposing St Michael's cathedral dating from 1848; its altar is richly decorated in pearls and mother of pearl. There are also hundreds of stone buildings from that era, including churches, convents, schools, and watch towers.

Mangareva has the biggest and most famous pearl farms in the area, and fine quality black pearls can be purchased. Other activities may include nature walks or snorkelling and diving in the surrounding reef with its dramatic coral formations.

Pitcairn
Pitcairn island is the only inhabited island of the four islands in the Pitcairn group. They are located in the remote South Pacific, farther from any continent than any other inhabited island. The islands are the last British colony in the South Pacific and most isolated British dependency. The rugged main island was settled by the infamous mutineers of the Bounty and their Polynesian companions, and most of Pitcairn's mere four dozen current inhabitants are their descendants.

Adamstown is the capital and only settlement on the island. Attractions on the island include the remains of the Bounty in Bounty Bay, (Bounty's anchor is on display in front of the Public Hall in the town square), the new museum in Adamstown, the grave of John Adams, Fletcher Christian's cave and Down Rope a cliff on the southeast edge of the island.

Swimming off the shoreline of Pitcairn is considered unsafe, however swimming can be done at St. Paul's Pool, a picturesque tidal pool nestled among the seaside rocks in eastern part of Pitcairn.
