Chatham Islands Small Group Tours
Join a small group tour of the Chatham Islands departing Auckland. With expert local guides, you will explore this remote corner of New Zealand to its fullest, over 7 days.
The Chatham Islands are one of the first places in the world to welcome in each new day. Sitting approximately 800 km off the coast of mainland New Zealand the Chatham’s archipelago consists of 11 islands, most uninhabited except for the vast numbers of birds who call the islands their home. The unique mix of breath-taking scenery, diverse birdlife, unique history and rich culture makes the Chatham Islands a destination like no other.

Venture out at night, when kiwis are feeding, in the hopes of having the unique opportunity to observe them in their natural habitat. Another day enjoys cruising the bays and inlets, looking for seals, penguins, albatross (mollymawk), and learning about the islands fascinating past. Dark Sky Experience: Tekapo and Mount John

Starting from Christchurch, join then group and travel to Lake Tekapo (Takapō) and Mt John Observatory on a 3 day, 2 night Dark Sky Experience; star gazing, astronomy and astrophotography.
Staying near the shores of Lake Tekapo, there is time to explore, visit the Church of the Good Shepherd, go for a walk, or soak in the Tekapo hot springs. At the Dark Sky Project we take a thought provoking guided tour. Enjoy nightly dinners as a group before heading up Mt John, to the world-renowned astronomical centre; UC Mt John Observatory each night. Here expert guides will educate you on the night sky, as you gaze through telescopes, try hands at astrophotography or simply grab a bean bag and enjoy a prime view on the mountain top under the stars.
